Carex

I have grown these grasses for years and have a few in my garden as they are perfect for softening the edges of beds and adding some evergreen colour to last though the winter when a lot of other planting has faded or died back. I have planted these out all around Bournemouth and am particularly impressed with how well they can take the salty sea air in more exposed positions. Whilst these grasses perform extremely well in sheltered and more shady spots I have never had issues with them in very bright direct light though the speed of growth may be slightly stunted or some leaf scorch may occur. These grasses bulk out rather quickly once established so whilst I stock quick small plants, with a bit of time they will quickly fill in empty spaces.
